Hello everyone!

So, an update on my driving adventures! This week I have been driving around the area and really enjoyed it! I’m not saying it’s not been easy, but I’ve found it gets easier and easier as time went by!  My lovely hubby has put up with a lot from me LOL, I don’t think I’m the most laid-back student.

The weather has not been that good this week, it’s been cold and rained a little but we have got to Sunday and it’s a really nice warm day although there are lots of flying ants around, 100’s have decided to end things by flying straight into the swimming pool!

This morning we had a lovely stroll along La Mata beach; we both love it there, typically Spanish, and unspoilt. If you haven’t been, we’d really recommend you visit. For the more active, there is a lovely walk from La Mata through to Torrevieja or, if preferred, you can walk the opposite way and walk through to Guardamar del Segura.

You would not believe its 4 weeks to Xmas. Time to go buy a present for the hubby and spoil him for everything he has done for me this year, he is amazing to me! It does not feel like Xmas with being in Spain, although I miss my family terribly, I love being out here, its by far the best thing we ever did. We have been so lucky with work and being able to come live in Spain, I am so thankful and grateful we could do it. We have met some amazing people along the way. Everyone has a story to tell of how they come to be here wreath this to live here who are just staying the Winter months or just here to see if it’s the right area for them, it’s nice to hear their story and the issues they may have had along the way so we can learn from them and who know, potentially offer some help as we had to go through all the initial learning and all the bureaucracy that comes with moving to Spain. We did so much research before moving here but learnt quickly, it’s so much better listening to those who have done it and know what to do!

Phil and the guys are really enjoying Padel Tennis, they are getting into it big time, although each time Phil get home, he tells me how many balls they have lost! I think the couple of pints at the end of the night is helping them though LOL!

Our business continues to do very well, thankfully! We think we offer our customers that little extra; the things others dont provide and we treat every booking as the most important booking we have - to our valued customers in is! We have taken a couple of new contracts this week which is always nice! Looking forward to the start of the Summer season 2021! Hopefully, with numerous vaccines coming in, COVID-19 will be nothing more than a terrible memory and all businesses will start to flourish once again! It’s been just a hard and life changing period for many businesses and employees! Lets get the economy moving again and get people into employment! We aim to do just that by Summer 2021.

Stay safe everyone! Take care,

Hi everyone! I hope you are all well and keeping safe!

A quick update for everyone, business continues to exceed our expectations and new customers keep coming onboard – long may it continue!
Well its getting close to Christmas again! Cannot believe how fast this year has gone, and what a year it has been with the dreadful COVID-19 virus sweeping the world BUT, hopefully there is some light at the end of the tunnel with numerous vaccines becoming available shortly! It’s been a mad, crazy year with the virus, lockdowns, our move to Spain being on then off then on again, but we are here and even though many government departments are working flat out and busy trying to clear backlogs, we have all the required legal documentation before the end of the transition period, Phew!

I hope you are all ready for Christmas in whatever form it may take. Think it’s just making the best of the terrible situation we all find ourselves in. To me, due to being in Spain, it does not feel like nearly Christmas, it’s just not the same as being in the UK. It seems Spain do not have as many decorations like they do in the UK and its just not that big in Spain, the Spanish celebrate Epiphany, or ‘Three Kings Day’ which I believe is on January 6th. You can go buy decorations from supermarkets and the China shops they just don’t go mad with them like we do.

So this week my hubby Phil rented me a car so that I could get used to driving in Spain and to get my confidences up. We have a 7-seater car which we need for the business but I find it far too big for me so he hired me a small Fiesta so I could get used to driving over here. Thank you to a good friend for renting us the car! I can confirm it is going well although I must say, I feel like I am learning to driving again. Feels very wired but enjoying driving.

On Monday Phil went to play ‘PADEL’ with some of his friends. Padel is a popular sport here in Spain and it seems like a mix between Tennis and Squash. It’s played in a ‘PADEL COURT, and always with four players. I can say they all really enjoyed it and will all be going back on a weekly basis! They are all like school kids again it fun to see them happy, bless them. Not sure about the ‘keeping fit’ side though as they all retired back to the pub after playing?

So as for the vaccine, this will mean so much to all of us around the world. I cannot wait be able to go see my family again and them to come see us may take some time but, as I say, there is a light at end of the tunnel at last. We have pretty much ruled out any possibility of returning to the UK for the Christmas week due to UK restrictions and the requirements of the Spanish Government instructing a PRC Test is required no older than 72 hour before being allowed back into Spain!

What are your plans over the festive period? Let us all know how you plan to celebrate the festive period! Just press 'leave comment' and that's it!

Hello everyone - hope you are all keeping well and safe!

Today is Saturday 14th November, it’s a little rainy day here in Spain but still lovely and warm.

This week we have been remarkably busy again for us! Not just with work although we have been all over with one job and another.

Our work took us to La Marina, Ciadad Quesada, La Zenia, Torrevieja, Murcia and Alicante just to name a few. We’ve really covered some tarmac this week!

In addition to our work commitments, this week we have been to collect our TIE cards (Residency Cards) from Alicante, after a long drive up there, all we had to do was give our finger prints again and that was it! Didn’t take 2 Min's but worth the drive there and back.

On Monday afternoon we went to do our medical assessment to allow us to exchange our UK driving licences for Spanish ones. All I can say OMG! I have never seen anything like it LOL! We had an appointment in Rojales, Eventually after being called in after waiting an hour we were greeted by a chap that completes the paperwork… yes, more paperwork! A few simple questions like have you ever had an eye operation and do you take any medication. Then a simple hearing test and eye test. I swear the letters were so big I could have read them from 5 mile away! Once that was done we had to do a ‘hand – eye’ coordination test; this can only be described as a 1970’s computer game with two lanes flowing down the screen and a ball in each… the lanes start to swerve and your job, using the two handles, is the keep the balls in between the lines. A tad tricky but we both managed it! I scored 86% and Phil 93%. All we have to do is take the signed papers to ‘Traffico’ and then wait for our new licences to arrive! God knows how long that will take with the Spanish postal system.

Business continues to flourish, things have been so busy we’ve been working weekends to ensure we don’t let any of our clients down… think we are in for a hell of a summer season if a summer season is allowed! Phil is the brains behind the business side of things and reports that currently we are 28.9% ahead of budget! We expected a really quite last quarter but my god.. you would think we were the only Cleaning and Key Holding business around! We know we could be busier, but we refuse to do things underhand. Our business is legally registered and therefore we pay into the Spanish tax system… many ‘Cleaning Businesses’ operate under the radar therefore do not have to charge IVA (Spanish VAT) as we have too. Nevertheless, we will continue to operate legally as we have found many clients prefer that and do not mind paying the IVA.

So, Phil has decided to take up a new sport… PADEL. It’s very big here in Spain. He and some of his friends are playing for the first time this coming Monday… I’ll report back on how this goes lol! There may be a ‘nearly new’ PADEL racket for sale very soon!

That’s your lot for now…. Let me know how things are going for you… feedback is always welcome and always very much appreciated!

Hello everyone! Hope you are all well and keeping safe?

Well, what can I say about this week, it has been so busy with work that's why my blog it late being released, apologies for that.

We have been all over this week and seem to have had no personal time whatsoever! We have entered November and I am still in shorts – how cool is that? We did have rain this week, that ‘dirty rain’ which seems to be full of sand, takes an eternity to get everything cleaned back up! Our car is absolutely covered in the stuff!

Nothing to report on the driving front has it’s been that busy to get out and practice BUT, hopefully, we have use of a smaller car next week so I can get out and try it out!

We have several new customers and due to business demands, we have even been out working today and its Sunday! what is all that about LOL.

The 5th of November was different here has it’s just not a big thing here, I even forgot what day it was anyway! it’s so easy to do that here, not knowing what day you are on it really weird.

I see England are back in lockdown for 4 weeks, my family. just like many others, are all trying to make scene of it all and trying to keep safe and be there for each other, its hard being here and not seeing them but on other hand I get to see them on face time or WhatsApp so that a good thing. I cannot wait until we can go see them.

Phil and I go for our medicals tomorrow to exchange our driving licences to Spanish ones. everything seems a long process to get the most basic things done here.

Not much has changed here in Spain, we still cannot travel out of our areas without good reason and you must fill a form in for that reason asking why where and for how long.
I do not think there is anything else, last time we looked nothing had changed unless I have missed it, if it has let me know.

Christmas is coming around fast again; do not think it’s going to be much of one, but we can only make of it what we can. We are still hoping to get back to the UK for a week at Christmas but hand on heart, I don’t really think it will happen.

Anyway, I will sign off for now – another busy week ahead for us…

Stay Safe and take care!
