Morning everyone,

Looks like we had some rain in the night but lovely blue sky's again today.

Paul that sounds good to meet up for a beer let me know when its a good time for you both, hope your move goes well for you, exciting times!

Val, I know we had to cancel a lot of events before we come over to Spain to live so I know how hard it is for you, just keep safe! I will never forget the people I have had the privilege to meet whilst being involved with Guide Dogs and what it means for them to have a life again makes me feel so lucky.

Hi Charlotte, hope your keeping well? if the mosquitoes are the only down side I can cope with that lol. Phil will just have to man up. I must say the other bugs here for me are cockroaches, never been scared of them just don't like them, who does and with the temperatures here, they thrive? When we first arrived, I think it was on the second day, we had been out shopping and while we were gone the other villa owners decided to drain the pool to put some new submerged lighting in,  they decide to clean the drainage out at the same time so when we got back they was just lifting of one of the drain covers,   I am not joking when I say there was 100s and 100's of cockroaches coming out of the drains! It was comical watching the guys trying to spray them and hitting them with their shoes trying to kill them - was like watching a comedy show! The council here go round and spray down all the drains then place a green dot on the drain lid to show it's been completed. With COVID virus and Spain's lockdown they are still slightly behind with a lot of things here but are caching up slowly but surely.

Today (Friday 9th October)  is a holiday in Spain (know as a Red Day),  it is the 'Day of Valencia' a historical commemoration of the date in 1238 when king James 1 officially entered the city of Valencia and freed it from 'Moorish rule' this holiday day is only for the Valencia area which we come under, there is another 'Red Day' on Monday, 'Spanish National Day'. Spanish festivals are big here, there is 1 every month it seems  and they seem to last for a month! Some festivals end with fireworks displays. I have not been able to go to any with everything that's been going on in the world although we watched the 'Festival of San Miguel' from our roof top solarium.

I still get Sky News over here and I'm watching how the UK are managing the rise in COVID-19 infections throughout the UK! When will this ever go away? It seems like the UK Government are looking at some form of lockdown again; not good at all. Here is Spain many tell me how strict the lockdown was here! In fact the Police are still very stict with compliance with the restrictions; I've know them enter pubs and measure the distance between tables and how many are gathered around the table. I've seen at first hand someone getting an on the spot fine for not wearing a mask!

My question for you all is; How did you cope during lockdowns? Did you learn new things, how did you keep busy or perhaps you, like me, had to continue to work through it! Very interested to hear how you managed!

Well, that's it for now - we are off to the beach for a good long walk - Red Day and all that!

Stay safe everyone,

Jack's xx
